山西最有名的就是晋商，古代晋商依靠经商贸易积累了丰厚的财富，修建了很多具有代表性的北方大院，皇家看故宫，民宅看乔家，乔家大院就是其中一个。历代晋商影响着山西人的衣食住行方方面面，特别是传统的晋菜，有随着丝绸之路传播的过油肉，也有代表着团圆喜庆的莜面栲栳栳，还有最朴实的刀削面，形成了山西特有的饮食文化。
The most famous ones in Shanxi are Shanxi Merchants. In ancient times, Shanxi Merchants accumulated rich wealth by relying on business and trade, and built many representative northern courtyards.
